Home remedies for urinary infections

Some home remedies for urinary tract infections that can help improve symptoms or contribute to overall urinary health. These include:

  • Cranberry juice, cranberry supplements, and vitamin C, which support urinary health
  • Drinking plenty of water, which can speed healing time
  • Probiotics, which may decrease growth of unhealthy bacteria in the genitals

However, research into these alternative therapies is ongoing. Research on home remedies has not demonstrated benefit for preventing or treating UTIs, but the risk of using them, other than expense, is low, aside from possibly delaying the proper treatment you might need. Before using home remedies for urinary tract infections, talk to your doctor about the safest and most effective treatment options.
