Testing for celiac disease

The main blood test, the tissue transglutaminase antibodies (tTG-IgA) test, is positive for about 98 percent of people with celiac disease who have been eating gluten. The trouble is that you have to be eating gluten for the test to be accurate, and many people cut it out before getting tested. There are other tests to rule out false negatives and positive. A biopsy of the small intestine is the surest way to diagnose celiac disease.
