Comfort and wearability

The Skulpt system comes with a small spray bottle that you use to wet the sensors before using the scanner. The sensors need to be thoroughly wet in order to get readings that are as accurate as possible. This can be a time consuming process, especially if you need to take multiple readings in one location, and pressing wet metal sensors onto your body is not particularly comfortable.

The Skulpt Aim is waterproof, which should make it easy to use in the shower, but this is unfortunately not a reliable method. You will need to really drench the sensors with the spray bottle before each muscle reading.

Fashion

The Skulpt Aim isn’t particularly attractive, but the manufacturer recommends taking measurements once a day in the morning, so you won’t need to carry it around with you.

Apps

When you open the box, the scanner comes with a quick start guide to help you install the Skulpt application and get begin using it. Though installation is easy, the app itself is cumbersome and slow, and some odd design choices make it difficult to navigate.

Though you can use the scanner on its own, the Skulpt app allows you to view your progress and work toward specific goals. The app tracks changes in fat and muscle composition over time, which it displays in easy-to-read graph form.

The Skulpt app shows you exactly where to place the scanner to get the best results, but you can take readings with or without a smartphone. If you do not use the app when taking readings, the scanner will store your data and sync to the app at the first opportunity.

The Skulpt app works with both Android and iOS platforms.

Email, IM, and notifications

There is no email or notification function in the scanner itself, though you can turn notifications on and off for the app on your phone.
